Is 1stCollab Legit or Scam? My honest Review as a Nurse Content Creator
Disclosure: If you join or take action with my affiliate links, I may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you.
My assessment in this article is based on personal experience with 1stCollab, public reviews and company publications online. I will update this article as I gain first hand experience with this company.
There are just so many scams online these days so when you receive an invitation from 1stCollab, it is reasonable to pause and make that critical search, “Is 1stCollab a scam?”
Brand partnership offers can sound exciting but, but creators should understand the platform and the terms before accepting a deal.
A little Bit About Me
My name is Bosco Ssemanda. I am a career coach for nurses. I run Nursing Embassy, where I create nursing education and career content for an audience across Facebook, TikTok, and Youtube.
i joined 1stcollab to explore opportunities to work with brands, especially those in healthcare because that is a field I understand better.
Here is what I can verify so far, along with questions I would ask before accepting a campaign.
What is 1stCollab?

Company Name: 1stCollab
Website: www.1stcollab.com
Services offered: Influencer Marketing
Owners:
Leon Lin: Co-Founder & CEO (formerly Head of Discovery Product at Pinterest)
Varun Bansal: Co-Founder (formerly a Product Manager at Pinterest)
Andrew Liu: Co-Founder (formerly a Tech Lead at Pinterest and Coupang)
Carina Cater: Co-Founder (formerly an influencer marketing lead at companies like Whatnot and Robinhood)
1stCollab is a platform where brands can hire content creators and online influencers to create awareness about their products and services. So, if you’re a brand that wants to gain popularity among your potential customers, you can pay an online influencer who has a big audience to mention your brand to them.
Since the audience already trusts the content creator, they are more likely to trust their word than seeing your advert placed on a general platform like television.
Their website has creator features including a sign-up page, a place to check brand invites and gigs that match your interests, and a way to set up your profile and connect your social media channels so that brands can easily assess the magnitude of your influence.Generally, the platform offers brands tools to find creators and manage campaigns.
So, Is 1stcollab legitimate?
My current assessment is this: 1stcollab appears to be an operating creator and brand platform. They have a fully functional website with tools to achieve creator-brand partnerships. it also has a sign up process, published terms and privacy information.
I have personally created an account and currently have landed a brand partnership that I will not disclose to keep the privacy of my client. 1stCollab claims i will receive the payment after I submit the project. I cannot yet guarantee that i will receive the payment since i am just trying the platform for the first time. i cannot also guarantee that my client will get the results they need as a result of this idea brought by the platform. i can just do my best as a creator to help my client brand achieve the best results.
What is the cost of joining 1stCollab?
At the time of writing this article, 1stcollab does not charge creators any fee to join and with brands.
As per their terms, campaign compensation may include but not limited to money, products or services, or a combination.
Some campaigns may also have a base compensation, meaning that you are paid a base fee for creating a video to create brand awareness. Then also get paid for customer actions such as a specific amount of money for each qualified customer that you bring on board.
An example is that a creator may be paid $500 for a short Instagram reel and $40 dollars for each customer that you bring on when your reel goes live.
The particular offer should state its requirements and payment before you agree.

Do Creators Get Paid Immediately They Create An Account?
No. Creating an account does not equate to getting paid money. Instead, you can see what jobs match your interests and apply. You get paid when a brand accepts your work.
Creating an account is an opportunity to be considered for campaigns (gigs), not a promise of income.
Pros and Cons of 1stCollab
As per my experience with 1stCollab, these are the pros and cons of using this platfoem as a creator.
| Pros | Cons |
| The website is relatively easy to use | The amount of money you get paid is flexible. Not good for creators with low bargaining power |
| Direct payments can be set up directly through stripe | As a creator, you put your name and face on a brand whose quality of services you don’t know enough about or have control over. |
| 1stCollab only matches you with campaigns that match my interests | You spend time building another person’s brand instead of building yours. |
| Creators are given the freedom to express their creative abilities | No guarantee that your audience will like this brand. In fact, very distracting to them. |
My Verdict
Is 1stCollab a scam? I can’t really categorize them as such. What I cannot guarantee is how good the deal will be between the creator and the brand.
That brand that you are marketing; will they deliver services to your audiences without hurting trust between you and your audience?
What about for brands? Is that creator good enough to bring you results? In any case you don’t get results as a brand, that is wasted money.
I would consider trying 1stCollab, while judging each campaign on its own terms. For now, you can inspect the platform and decide whether its opportunities fit your content or brand.
